Staff Accountant

This is a non-voting financial position that will report to a voting board-level Treasurer. The organization does not maintain a physical office, so that the bulk of the work will be done remotely. Additionally, the expectation is that the Staff Accountant will attend monthly board meetings.  These are held most months, and can be attended either in-person, or virtually. The task is to do the day-to-day accounting work with QuickBooks accounting software, and on occasion, in conjunction with Excel spreadsheets. That includes paying bills, and recording (if not making) deposits. There are three part-time employees that are paid monthly. It is a simple enough payroll system to be managed manually, but does include working with withholding taxes and workers’ compensation insurance. Various contractors are hired for other technical positions, so that 1099 forms need to be issued at the end of the year. Other areas needing help are working with other volunteers on donor management, contract writing, grant applications, and insurance negotiations. There are certain other governmental reports to be filed, and licenses and permits to be renewed. There is also a Form 990 that is filed annually.
